How to clean the air conditioning filters?

If you have an air conditioner at home, you may have noticed that the air it releases is sometimes accompanied by a bad smell.

One of the reasons for the appearance of these smells is the accumulated dirt in the filters. To eliminate and prevent the bad smell, we do not only have to clean the air conditioner filters, but also disinfect them to kill the bacteria that produce the bad smells and can cause allergies and respiratory diseases. With this disinfection you will also avoid possible breakdowns in the appliance and you will reduce energy consumption.

5 easy steps to clean and disinfect air conditioning filters:

1. First, disassemble the filters and rinse them with lukewarm water, rubbing them lightly to better remove the most stubborn dirt that adheres more to the surface of the filters. If the dirt is still impregnated, use some kind of soft soap, such as the soap that you usually use to wash your hands.

2. Air conditioning filters are very delicate, therefore, we should never use abrasive products to clean them as we can damage the components and render them useless. It is also not convenient to use stiff bristle brushes, to avoid the possibility of “fraying” the fabric, producing holes and reducing the filtering capacity.

3. To disinfect the filters and eliminate any germs and thus avoid bad smells being generated through the filters and spreading throughout the room, we advise you to spray the surfaces with Multi-Purpose Disinfectant – Eucalyptus. Apply it abundantly on the filters so that they are well soaked. Sanytol’s disinfecting power will kill up to 99.9% of the germs that may be in the filters and, since it does not contain bleach, it is very careful with the delicate material from which they are made.

4. After 15 minutes, the product will have worked and should be rinsed with plenty of water. Then let it dry for a few hours.

5. When the filters have dried, you can replace them.
